The Benching Of Santonio Holmes… A Jets player reportedly told the Newark Star Ledger that Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer benched Holmes because he had simply “had enough”. The player said, “.. He quit. It’s happened for the past two to three weeks. It’s happened all season.” He wasn’t even on the field for the last critical two minutes of the game. Holmes has not produced well this year as he finished with his lowest receiving yardage of his career! This after he signed a 5 year- $45 million dollar contract five months ago.

After talking disruptive rants in the huddle TWICE during the Jets/Dolphins game, Brian Schottenheimer benched the Jets star WR in the 4th quarter. Holmes has criticized his offensive line during the year claiming that they haven’t given Mark Sanchez enough time. It should be an interesting off season for the 8-8 Jets. Photo: Getty Images

Gates is Cincinnati’s top frontcourt player. He’ll miss games against Wright State, Radford, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Chicago State, Oklahoma and the Bearcats’ Big East opener at Pittsburgh. The suspensions will affect only one Big East game, the Bearcats’ league opener at Pittsburgh on Jan. 1.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff…seriously? On the street he would have had a record. On the court he misses playing against Radford and Arkansas-Pine Bluff… Unbelievable!

Jose Reyes is now a Marlin…

Jose Reyes is now a Marlin. Was it too long of a deal? (

In it’s debut, our Photo of the Week features former Mets shortstop and defending NL Batting Champion Jose Reyes who, earlier in the week, agreed to a 6 year $106 million contract. We think given his style of play, his past injury history, and Hanley being forced to move over to 3B,  it will all come back to bite Miami.
