Twice this December J.R. Smith tossed up his first and second game-winning shot! What are the odds?
Someone reminded me that the great teams just find a way of winning. It’s not always pretty but effective. Earlier this month, on December 5th, Smith also launched the game-winner over the Bobacts’ Michael Kidd-Gilchrist for the Knicks 100-98 win.
The 21 foot buzzer-beater on Wednesday night in Phoenix was even more spectacular, and clutch, given that the Knicks were playing without Carmelo Anthony (hyper-extended knee) and Raymond Felton (fractured pinky on his shooting hand).
Mike Woodson has been singing the praises of J.R. since before the season even got underway. He rides him more than any other player on the team and has said he could have the best season of his career. And coincidentally his 15.7 points per game is the highest of his career. He’s also averaging 5 rebounds, 1.5 three-pointers, and 1.3 steals per game. Is there a better Sixth Man of the Year candidate than Mr. December?

couldn’t agree more. JR Smith has played inspired this season. He turned out to be the second most important signing for the Knicks this offseason. JKIdd being the first.

Absolutely. Grunwald did an amazing job last summer. The Knicks now have a bench, seasoned vets, and a couple of up and coming stars (see Iman Shumpert, Copeland).
Have a happy & healthy New Year Jerry!

Finally we’re seeing the best out of a player that many had suspect didn’t possess the drive and maturity to play in the NBA . Kudos to JR Smith , and deservedly so !

And to Mike Woodson for believing in his talent and ability.

I’ve always felt that Woodson was never really given the credit due , as a coach ! He has patience, and he’s able to motivate the younger players , as well as the seasoned veterans . I’m not so sure that the same can be said of Mike D’Antoni .
Dropped this piece on the NFL and week seventeen , if at all interested ?
