Fantasy basketball owners have been inundated with a plethora of injuries at the Point Guard position and now decisions have to be made in order to help advance to the next round or two. Here is a short list of star point guards that are injured or out for the season:
Derrick Rose, Stephen Curry, Ricky Rubio, Jeremy Lin, Jose Juan Barea, Klyle Lowry, Jarrett Jack, Jerryd Bayless, and Rodney Stuckey.
PG OPTIONS AND AVAILABILITY:
C.J.Watson- There really aren’t many players that can come close to the numbers that Rose has put up but Watson is still serviceable at least. There still is no timetable set on when Rose might return. Over the nine games that Rose has missed, Watson has put up an average of 12.5 points, 3.8 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.1 threes. He is owned in only 10% of most leagues.
Nate Robinson/Charles Jenkins- Nate had been doing most of the filling in Golden State, but it appears that his barking hamstring of late has coach Mark Jackson taking a liking to Jenkins’ play. He has let him start three of the last four games and here are his averages: 19 points, 8 assists, 1 steal. Not too shabby. As Curry has been ruled out for the remainder of the season, we would recommend going with Jenkins. He is owned in just 5 % of leagues.

Greivis Vasquez- Jarrett Jack’s ankle has kept him out or allowed him only minimal minutes of late and has given Vasquez an opportunity to show what he can do. He already proved himself back in February when he started every game except two and turned in the following averages: 12 points, 6.8 assists, 1.4 steals, 2.5 boards, and 1.3 threes. He’s available in 85% of leagues.
Iman Shumpert- Jeremy Lin (knee) has missed the last three games and although Baron Davis has filled in, it’s been with with excessive turnovers and inconsistent play- (and now with a calf ailment). Shumpert has done an outstanding job of supplying the Knicks with some much needed offense and his usual stellar defense. In the last three games that Shumpert has started he’s amassed an average of 20.3 points, 3 assists, 4.6 rebounds, 3.3 threes, and 2 steals. Those numbers will surely fill up a stat sheet! Amazingly, he’s available in 75% of most leagues.

Austin Daye- With Stuckey (hamstring) and Ben Gordon (groin) both ailing, Austin Daye becomes an option at PG in Detroit. He’s only seen his minutes increase over the last two games but he can help especially with his defensive stats if he continues to see extra playing time. In his last two, he’s averaged 9.5 points, 2 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2.5 steals. Daye is currently owned in 12% of leagues.
How about John Lucas? He’s been stellar in Rose’s absence.

He’s been okay. A bit erratic averaging 9.8 points and 3.6 assists over the last five (including today’s game where he took a team high 20 shots). His point totals over that stretch is 19 (today)-2-10-14-4. I mean he’s help the Bulls but I’m not sure is I would call him stellar just yet…
