On Monday, Mayor and former three time All-Star Kevin Johnson announced that a deal had been reached with the Maloof family. It will culminate with a brand new downtown arena where the Sacramento Kings will play and STAY…
“I really want to jump up and down right now because I’m so excited”, said an elated and relieved Johnson.“It’s a new day for Sacramento. We’ve all been working around the clock to get to this point and it’s going to be a defining moment for our community. We have the framework of an agreement going forward.”
Credit Commissioner David Stern with an assist on this agreement. Both sides said Stern was a driving force in bringing the deal to a successful conclusion in the final days and the commissioner said that was the mandate given to him by the league’s owners.
The deal is great for Sacramento, great for Kings’ fans, and great for the league!

I miss one of my favaorite Sonics: Gary “The Glove” Peyton. The only point guard to ever win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year. Spent 13 years in Seattle…
Thanks for checking in JPB!

I’m glad they are staying. Sounds like a great city, they deserve to keep their team.

Yeah, loyalty means something to those fans. Great basketball city & even greater fans! They fought like hell to keep the Kings there and they won!

I would hope loyalty meant something to all fans haha. But of course, I like tradition, and if teams keep moving around, then you lose something.
