This Knick player who was acquired from the Golden State Warriors last month, scored a triple double on Friday night. However, he was playing in the NBA Development League affiliate Erie Bayhawks. His name is Jeremy Lin. We did a story on him back on December 28th, and now jst after three weeks of being in the D league , Lin has been lighting it up! His final line in Friday night’s game was 28 points, 12 assists, and 11 rebounds in just under 44 minutes of play.

The N.Y. Knicks disappointing play of late has transformed this team into a 6-10 early bust in this shortened NBA season. A team that had such high hopes at the start of the year back on Christmas Day, when they took on the Boston Celtics in their Madison Square Garden season opener. The team that was said to have the finest front line in the league, has been searching for the right back court while they wait for Baron Davis to return. After losing their last six in a row, perhaps it’s time for the Knicks to consider bringing Lin up from the D league as he clearly will prove, at best, to be a much better player than veteran Mike Bibby.
No, the guard won’t garner a triple-double every night, but if his level of play and energy he brings to the court every night continues to grow and improve, then why not call him up? Especially after these six straight loses. The 6′ 200 lb. 23 year old Jin, has shown a great ability and understanding of how to run the pick- and- roll, which he displayed several times on his way to that triple-double vs the Maine Red Claws in Friday night’s 122-113 win. For those of you who have never seen Jeremy Lin play, here is a clip from Friday’s game. And while you watch, think of who the last Knick player was to score a triple-double…
Lin is a very good player, but I’m not sure he’ll ever have a great career in the NBA. Either way, I’m not surprised he did this in the D-League!

Thanks Sean-
Well, I didn’t mean to infer that he would be the next Chris Paul, I only suggested that perhaps while the Knicks are waiting for Baron Davis, they might want to give him a shot. They don’t really have a distributor/scorer at the moment. Shumpert shoots too much and is a work in progress. Bibby, well the Mike Bibby train left the station years ago.
They are 6-10 and have lost 6 in a row and so it really can’t get any worse…
