Detroit Piston Tayshaun Prince is officially ‘On Fire’!
The 1st round pick of the Detroit Pistons in 2002 from Kentucky, Prince has been lighting it up very quietly. In his last three games, he has averaged 23 points, scoring 20, 20, and 29. Prince only had 12 games with 20 or more points in 78 games last year! For someone that you would describe as ‘wiry’, his stamina hasn’t wavered as he’s averaging 32 minutes a game this season, about a minute less than his career average. In his last eight seasons, Prince has missed just 37 games!
Unfortunately he is mired on an untalented team that’s gone 3-12 in their first 15 games. The only bright spots are guards Brandon Knight, Rodney Stuckey, and Ben Gordon. But Gordon is 29, Prince turns 32 next month, and Ben Wallace is 36. But while age is catching up to Tayshaun Prince, he continues to put out 100% every night, seldom complains, and is the class of the organization.
From a fantasy point of view, the points are an enticement to those in need of that category, but Prince will offer little else. Perhaps 3-4 boards and 2-3 assists is all you can expect from him, sort of like a Rip Hamilton type of fantasy option throughout the years. He’s still widely available in most leagues; just 25% owned in Yahoo! leagues. From strictly a sports enthusiast’s perception, it’s nice to see that at least for now, the Prince is heating up!
