When coach Tom Coughlin saw the photo above he said, …”it made me sick to my stomach.” It cost the Giants 4 points because instead of a touchdown they kicked a field goal. Those four points probably costed them the game. Problem is referees do not use pictures to determine outcomes of plays; they use videos and in the video it ‘appears’ that TE Jake Ballard was on the line.
This was just one of several calls on the day that got Coughlin’s goat. Besides losing two challenges, which in itself is very rare for coach Coughlin, there was a horrible pass interference penalty call on Prince Amukamara which wasn’t even borderline and an illegal contact call on linebacker Jacquian Williams which was also ‘questionable’. But the Ballard ‘touchdown’ which was ruled an incomplete pass was the dagger ‘in the stomach’ that was the crushing blow and ultimately tipped the scales in favor of the Packers in a well fought game.
The only question we have is why didn’t the Giants play with the same intesnsity against the Seahawks and the Eagles…They sure could have used those ‘W’ s now.
